Coastal Holidays to Lithuania

The Lithuanian coastline features one of the world's natural wonders, a narrow, 60 mile long sandy peninsula comprised of pine forests and sand dunes. The Spit is inhabited by elk, deer and wild boar. Along the coast you will also find some enjoyable towns.

Palanga is the most popular coastal resort in Lithuania with white sand beaches and dunes. It is just 16 miles north of Klaipeda and has a population of around 20,000 people, which grows considerably during the high season of July and August.

From Palanga you can visit Klaipeda and the Curonian Spit. There is a lovely village, Nida, at the end of the spit where you can enjoy delicious smoked fish and the beautiful surroundings.

Klaipeda is Lithuania’s third largest city, located at the narrow strait linking the Curonian Lagoon to the Baltic Sea. Founded in the middle of the 13th century, Klaipeda has become a modern city and the main seaport of Lithuania. In Klaipeda you’ll also find the only Marine Museum in the Baltics with an aquarium that boasts thousands of exhibits from many seas and oceans around the world.

If you go about 40 miles north of Palanga, you will cross the border into Latvia and arrive at the lovely Latvian port town of Liepaja. Located on the coast of the Baltic Sea, Liepaja is an interesting place with a charming Old Town, white sandy beaches, a beautiful seaside park and Karaosta (The Naval Port) - with its unique military heritage of Tsarist Russia and Soviet Union
