Bergen will enthrall you with its tiny centre; old fish harbour; wooden houses and spectacular Floibanen funicular railway. For skiiers, Geilo's snow is thick and easy with 40 slopes across 33 km. Still great skiing in late April and spring sunshine until 7 p.m. - what's not to like?
Fancy ice-fishing and zip-wiring in Are, Sweden, reputed to be the best ski resort in Europe? Combine a few days in Stockholm and Trondheim with deep powder on the 100km of piste served by over 40 lifts. Best In March and April when the crowds have gone, stay by Lake Are and take the 100 year old funicular railway up to the slopes.
Try cross-country skiiing in Estonia with Korvemaa National park just 50 km. from Estonia's jewel-like capital, Tallinn. For snow boarders and skiers, Southern Estonia and North Eastern Latvia offer well groomed pistes and night lighting.
