Nature & Northern Lights Short Break in Iceland

The  whole trip was  fantastic –   the  weather  was bright blue sky, and warm 18°, every day – what  luck !

All the excursions were   fascinating and beautiful and I  thank you for helping me  choose the right ones

We are finally getting back to you with feedback on our Iceland trip. We had extended our vacation into time spent in Portugal because why not have two distinctive weather changes?

For both of us, the highlight was the Sky Lagoon. We were very happy with the change of venue for many reasons. While there, Blue Lagoon was only open for one day with the volcanic activity. When researching the two lagoons after you put forth the venue change, we found the minimum age at Sky is 12 yrs as opposed to 2 years at Blue. We call that a win. Including the 7 step ritual was wonderful. When they say a cold bath, they mean COLD! It was a really good relaxing time. We did bring flip-flop sandals for the spa but they are not necessary. If anyone asks, the only reason to bring them is if you are person who prefers shower shoes when in public locker rooms. The individual changing/shower spaces that go with the Sky pass are worth it. They even provide a hair dryer in each place if needed. They also have locked personal lockers for your possessions.

The main draw back to the two trips, Golden Circle and South Shore trip was the time spent on the buses. Dave did not go on the south shore trip as it was 10 hours as opposed to the Golden Circle 7 hour bus time the previous day. The wind was brutal (it is Iceland after all) so each stop had more time spent inside each restaurant and gift shops then actually enjoying the reason we traveled so far. The views were amazing and can't be duplicated. The South shore trip starts with the first stop 1 hour and 45 minutes out just for a bathroom break. Then it is another 45 minutes to the first waterfall which did not have bathroom facilities. Each stop is so unique and amazing though. After the final stop on South shore, it is a 2 hour drive back to Reykjavik.

The tour guides are very knowledgeable and gave us the unique stories and info we love to absorb on these trips.

We ended up being glad we did decide to cancel the final chance for the northern lights for our other plans. Talking with others on the way to the airport who did go, they said it was a bust. So we took that part as a not meant to be. It is nature, you can't schedule it.

The Foss Baron was as we expected. We don't need 4 star places. The only draw back we had was the bed was so hard, we honestly felt like we were sleeping on the box springs. The breakfast was more than we expected though, so that was a nice start for the day.

We loved the purity of the drinking water. We are rural America and have our own well, so we greatly appreciate other places with great tap water.

Had a wonderful time.

Hotel excellent. Aurora cruise was also excellent and suited our needs perfectly.

In addition the aurora made a stunning appearance.

My wife and daughter went on the cable car which they loved, unfortunately I missed this due

to being ill with a chest infection which I probably caught on the plane journey. Therefore, looks like we are going to repeat this next year (March 20)

since being ill  I personally felt a little cheated – just one of those “things”.

We are now safely returned from our lovely break to Iceland, a country full of delights. I think highlights for me were the stunning countryside and the beautiful Harpa building in the city. The children particularly enjoyed the snow, the Blue Lagoon, the scenery, also the Harpa building and meeting an Icelandic strong man (the chef in the hotel). We all agree we would like to go back to explore the north of the country.

I wanted to let you know that we have a great time in Iceland, it was very cold -5 and snowy.  The 2 day trips that we went on were really good and very interesting.  Unfortunately the Northern Lights tour was cancelled every night due to the bad weather which was a shame as we really were hoping to see them.

I wanted to ask the question regarding this tour, would we be able to claim the cost of the tour back or not?

I can honestly say that was the best holiday I have ever had!

In the days we spent at Rekjavik we booked ourselves into the Blue Lagoon and went Snowmobiling, so we were already in love before we then left for the Glacier, Geysers and Northern Lights part of the holiday.

We were also very lucky to get a full Northern Lights show and have some unbelievable pictures, that all of our Facebook friends are fed up of seeing...!

My wife and I want to do another similar holiday later this year, maybe back to Iceland but driving ourselves around for 10 days or so (let me know if you have anything) or maybe Norway and Greenland - we will definitely come back to you when we are ready to book (feel free to email options now if you like!!)

Hi Daina,

Just a quick update about the Iceland trip. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was very impressed with Gray Line. The weather was pretty bad, but I'm aware that it's worse now!  I managed to see the Northern Lights on the Tuesday, I felt very fortunate as the trip was cancelled every other day!   The hotel was good too.  

I'll definitely keep an eye on the website and use your company again in the future.  Thank you for organising everything, Kind regards Zoe.  

We had a marvellous holiday. Thank you for all the arrangements which worked like clockwork! The northern lights were outstanding !! We also went whale watching which i would recommend.

One thing other clients may need to be aware of is that the bus from the Blue Lagoon to the airport is painted red and yellow. It is not white like the other coaches from the Tour Operator who took us on the other trips so it can be confusing with so many coaches arriving and leaving the lagoon,

I would therefore recommend amending the itinerary to have the shorter trip thus giving your customers a relaxing first morning and then still giving them same experiences currently offered.

Jackie and I have just returned to London after our trip to Iceland. We just want to to let you know how much we enjoyed the experience. The Fosshotel Reykjavik and it's staff were wonderful and the day excursions guides and coach drivers were great. We even managed to see the Northern Lights which was a real bonus.

We loved Reykjavik and loved Iceland.

I will tell you much more later but I must say right away that Iceland has been wonderful, and the trips so worthwhile and well-organised. I think we seemed to have got a better deal than all other people we met! Thank you so much!!

First of all the soup in a loaf! Oh that was absolutely fantastic; delicious and such fun!
Golden Circle; fabulous
South Coast – magical, with Eyafjallajökull right next to us, and the breakers at Vik…So much snow on mountains; just perfect for photography
Blue Lagoon marvellous … the Whale Museum, the Aurora exhibition, the Hallgrimmskirkje, everything. ONLY ONE PROBLEM: we couldn’t afford many things to eat or to bring back as souvenirs. Prices way out of our reach in general. We knew it was expensive, but not HOW expensive. Beautiful pullovers, hats, gloves, socks, and no way could we afford them! If Iceland made them just 1/4 cheaper they’d sell thousands more things- to British people. Maybe Americans can afford them..

But thanks for the organisation of a wonderful tour with marvellous excursions and such great couriers; and I DID see the Northern Lights!!!
More later. Bravo Baltic Travel! Definitely my favourite people.

Just to thank you very much. Jan and I had a fantastic trip to Iceland. We had a fabulous experience and the people were so friendly.

The itinerary was perfect and we did get to see the Northern Lights albeit very briefly and I did manage to capture a couple of photos which I was very happy about.

The only one thing that we were disappointed about at first, was our room.  It was so small and there was no cold water in the tap.  We spoke to the Reception and explained and they exchanged our room without any problem and ended up with a very nice room so were more than happy.

I will certainly recommend your company as I have already done to a couple of friends as the itinerary was explained so clearly and the extra information you gave us was really useful.

We had a very nice holiday in Iceland last week and we couldn't fault anything.The hotel was central to town and apart from snow and storms we had a good time.I have got a polar bear and guess what we have called her Daina,after you.My husband can't wait to go again and when we do it will be with Baltic travel,of course.from Janet and Philip.xxTuk.

Hi Daina we had a lovely holiday to iceland. We all thought wow air was superb you could say wow!! The hotel was good except the car park and slope up to pavement was never gritted and was very dangerous I did mention this a couple of times and was told we know. Still we felt the fosshotel baron was good value for money the rooms were warm and comfortable although the bathrooms could do with an overhaul!!  The trips were very good and the guides and drivers were exceptional I had had a bad fall before we left and we wondered if I would be able to go but the drivers were wonderful to me and helped me down and even lowered the coach so could you pass this on to your partners in iceland. This made it easier for my husband. We thought the south shore trip was out of this world the sun shone it was beautiful with snow up nearly to my knees I shall always remember this. We only saw a very poor show of the lights but still if we hadn't we would not have gone the next evening as we were really tired from the daytime trip it might have been better to go when you go to the lagoon as your time is your own. We did try to get to the blue lagoon but it was pouring with rain and very high winds so we returned on the same bus we went on but even this did not upset our holiday as even this driver sung to us to cheer us up!!!    Anyway thank you so much for all your help with our trip and we all would recommend baltic travel if anyone we know wants to go to any of the COLD countries!!!!!

We've just returned from a 4 day trip to Iceland, organised by your company.  Just to let you know we had a wonderful time and everything you'd planned for us went really smoothly.  Reykjavik Excursions were exceptionally good - well organised, informative and fun and the hotel facilities and staff couldn't be faulted.  We found the Icelandic people an absolute pleasure to meet and we ate some fantastic food in the restaurants we went to.

As we had paid for flights, hotel and excursions with you, the only money we spent once we were there was on food so we returned with money in our pockets.

All in all, we had a special holiday - the only down side was returning to Gatwick in the snow.  Reykjavik was lovely and sunny!

We had a wonderful jam packed 5 days and the lights were out of this world.
Doing the lights after the golden circle was ideal compared to others who were doing it after the south shore tour and had to jump off on bus straight onto another! Then ending the time at the blue lagoon was a great finale.

We have just returned from our trip to Iceland and wanted to tell you how wonderful it was!
 
Everything was so well organised. The hotel was very comfortable; the tours were excellent value for money and conducted at a leisurely pace by knowledgeable guides; the Icelandic people were very friendly and welcoming. Iceland is a stunning place with it's waterfalls, glaciers, mountains and the Blue Lagoon..
 
We booked an extra tour to see the Northern Lights as Friday's display was a little poor due to extensive cloud cover. Last night we were treated to a 360 degree spectacular light show for over an hour and a half. The icing on the cake of a wonderful holiday.
 
I have already recommended your company to several of our friends!
