Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Alesund
Arrive in Alesund on a direct flight from London Gatwick or a connecting flight via Oslo. Upon arrival at Vigra Airport, take the airport shuttle bus to central Alesund – a scenic 17-minute journey. The bus makes several stops in the city centre, and we’ll inform you in advance which one is closest to your hotel.
Day 2: Food Walk & Wildlife Sea Safari
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning at leisure. Take the morning to explore the beautiful Art Nouveau town of Alesund at your own pace. Climb the 418 steps to the Aksla Viewpoint for a panoramic view over the town, surrounding islands, and fjords. Stroll through the charming town centre with its colourful buildings, boutique shops, and galleries. Visit Jugendstilsenteret – the Art Nouveau Centre – housed in a beautifully preserved pharmacy, or take a relaxing walk along Brosundet, the scenic inner harbour.
11:30 – Alesund Food Walk
At noon, join a guided 3-hour food walk, a perfect introduction to Alesund's culture and cuisine. Led by local experts, this unique tour combines storytelling with tastings of savoury local dishes. Along the way, admire the town’s iconic architecture and learn about its seafaring history and rebuilding after the 1904 fire. Don’t forget your phone or camera – there will be plenty of picturesque stops!
18:00 – Wildlife Sea Safari
Get ready for an exhilarating 2-hour RIB safari to Bird Island. Just off Alesund's coast lies a chain of remote islands teeming with marine life and dramatic landscapes. This thrilling experience will take you across open waters to observe native wildlife in their natural habitat – including seals, puffins, kittiwakes, gannets, razorbills, and, with some luck, porpoises or even whales.
This guided sea safari is designed to be both safe and environmentally respectful, ensuring a memorable, immersive encounter with Norway's wild coastal beauty.
Note: This tour departs at 12:00 in May and September, and twice daily (12:00 & 18:00) from June to August.
Day 3: Geirangerfjord in a Nutshell
Breakfast at the hotel. Full-day self-guided tour. Today you'll discover the world-famous Geirangerfjord – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Norway’s most iconic natural wonders.
Start with a scenic bus journey from Alesund to Andalsnes. Depending on the season and road conditions, the route will include either the dramatic Trollstigen with its 11 hairpin bends or the stunning Ørnesvingen (Eagle’s Bend) viewpoint overlooking the fjord.
Continue via car ferry from Eidsdal to Linge, followed by one of Norway’s most breathtaking drives to the picturesque village of Geiranger. You'll have a few hours at leisure here to explore the village and enjoy lunch – we recommend Berserk Bar & Grill, which offers great burgers, local beer and fjord views from both their indoor dining room and scenic terrace.
In the afternoon, board a scenic cruise through the majestic Geirangerfjord. Witness towering cliffs, abandoned mountain farms, and cascading waterfalls – including the legendary Seven Sisters, which plunge 250 metres straight into the fjord. The cruise concludes back in Ålesund.
Day 4: Departure from Alesund
Breakfast at the hotel. Depending on your flight time, enjoy some final moments in Alesund – perhaps take a peaceful morning stroll or enjoy a coffee along the harbour.
Before catching your airport shuttle back to Vigra Airport, treat yourself to a homemade ice cream at Lamella, known for its fresh waffle cones and delicious local flavours. It’s just a short walk from the shuttle stop and a sweet way to end your Norwegian adventure.
