Denmark Holiday Packages by Travel Style

If you’ve never experienced Denmark tour packages before, choosing one can be difficult! We’ve summarised some of the most commented on types of holidays to help you choose, from Denmark escorted tours with English-speaking local guides, to short breaks where you’ll immerse yourself in Nordic culture and design.

Self-Drive Holidays in Denmark

Danish self-drive holidays provide the maximum flexibility, with scenic rail and ferry travel connecting you with islands and beauty spots, travelling around picturesque coastlines and areas full of Viking history at your own pace. Fly-drive trips are fully organised on your behalf, with all accommodation and car hire taken care of.

The safe, well-maintained roads make driving in Denmark a pleasure, and the country’s compact size and the short distances between the most popular sights and attractions are comfortable, whether you’ve always wanted to see the Jelling Stones or are planning a day at the original LEGOLAND® in Billund.

Copenhagen City Breaks and Short Stays

Copenhagen city centre is easily walkable, combining the charm of fairytale buildings and ultra-contemporary Scandi architecture, the 17th-century harbour at Nyhavn and New Nordic restaurants, all of which you can explore on foot or by embracing Danish culture and hiring a bike.

Great for short breaks and as a starting point before heading to the islands or rural regions, Copenhagen has numerous sights. They include Amalienborg Palace and Tivoli Gardens, a fantastic and low-cost public transport network, and countless museums, art galleries and historic buildings that make for unforgettable memories.

History and Cultural Tours

Denmark has no shortage of historic towns and castles, with no less than nine UNESCO World Heritage sites. Visitors to this ancient kingdom that still bears the marks of the Vikings can see the Ladby Viking Ship Museum, a ship graveyard, Kronborg Castle, the setting for Hamlet, and Christiansborg Palace, today the seat of the Danish Parliament.

Guests can also head to Odense, with its cobbled streets once trodden by Hans Christian Andersen, with the opportunity to see inside his childhood home, a tiny yellow house, which has been turned into one of the oldest poetry museums in the world.

Luxury and Gourmet Holidays

Foodies often choose Denmark vacation packages with pre-booked reservations at some of the country’s world-renowned restaurants, with Danish cuisine and food culture having generated spectacular names such as Noma and Geranium, both must-try experiences for gastronomes.

From the opulence of five-star fine dining to cosy hygge cafes, the New Nordic culinary movement is all about local, seasonal ingredients and foraged herbs and florals, giving visitors a real taste of Denmark that focuses on simplicity and the freshest of flavours.

Multi-Country Scandinavian Holidays

Small group cultural holidays are a great way to spend quality time with friends and family, and Scandinavian multi-country tours give you the chance to see a range of landscapes, from the Finnish lakes to the Norwegian fjords, Swedish design to Danish hygge, all in one holiday.

Whether you want to head between the capital cities of Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki and Oslo for cultural sightseeing and shopping or would love to see the natural landscapes of the Swedish forests and Icelandic volcanoes, multi-country tours are designed to deliver.

Seasonal Denmark Holidays

Seasonal Denmark travel packages are based around the weather and traditions, and we can happily offer advice if you’re looking for warm, quiet beaches and cycling holidays in the spring, or a cosy winter escape with Christmas markets and snow.

Winter City Breaks and Christmas Market Holidays

We offer a variety of options and can design tailor-made Denmark travel packages or advise on curated itineraries that match your tastes. Either way, winter remains a popular time to travel to Copenhagen for a short break, when the streets are lit with festive lights and Tivoli Gardens transforms into a winter wonderland.

Wander the Christmas markets at Kongens, Tivoli, and Nyhavn; experience ice-skating under the cold winter sky; browse the shops and stalls with their extravagant festive window displays; taste smørrebrød and spiced glogg; or book a seat at a local restaurant to sample pickled herring, roast pork, and Danish snaps.

Spring and Autumn Cultural Escapes

Quieter seasons in spring and autumn are well suited to rail journeys in Denmark, with wildflowers blooming across the islands and countryside, and a crisp atmosphere that is great for visiting attractions or exploring the Danish forests with little queuing or crowds.

Guests also head to Zealand and Funen islands, travelling over the Great Belt Bridge, which soars over the water for 11 miles. The latter is known as the garden of Denmark, with its charming villages, mild climate and appeal for cycling and walking tours.

Summer City and Coastal Holidays

The coastal towns and beaches of the Danish Riviera are a popular destination for summer tours in Denmark, with long days, sunny weather, and Blue Flag beaches that offer opportunities for relaxed walks, hiking, cycling, swimming, water sports, and even surfing in Cold Hawaii in Denmark’s northwest.

Summer is also a brilliant time to see the striking Møns Klint cliffs and to book city breaks in Copenhagen, when the streets and harbour are full of life, and guests can take boat tours along the canal, swim in the harbour baths, and attend summer festivals.

Reviews of Denmark Holiday Packages and Tours: Set Travel Tours and Tailor-Made Vacations

August 2016
Overall rating: (5/5)

Everything went very smoothly as usual, the flights, car hire and hotels were all excellent! The scenery was lovely and Copenhagen was magnificent...especially the Tivoli Gardens and the canal district of Nyhavn, which I highly recommend.

On our travels we discovered castles (of course!), quaint fishing villages and super scenery. Helsingør was very nice with great views over to Sweden, and we particularly liked Gilleje, a very curious and lively fishing town.

The long bridge to Nyborg was a thrill ride, Odense was wet but interesting, the trip to Skagen was a long drive but we found a really lovely village called Sæby which is well worth a few hours stop!

Skagen was an unusual place - very windy obviously with the meeting of the seas, and we found a great restaurant whose name I can't remember!

The next day we had wanted to drive back to Copenhagen via the ferry route Spodsbjerg to Tars but decided against it (we couldn't face two long drives in a row!) so took the motorway route back to Copenhagen and spent the evening enjoying the city and ending up in beautiful Nyhavn, where we had another excellent Danish meal.

On our last day we borrowed hotel bikes and got absolutely soaked so we took refuge in a weird place called Christiania, where every shop sells marijuana and maybe even other stuff and it seems legal to smoke it there as you can get 'high' just walking around there! Another exciting and interesting place to find!

Overall, the weather was mixed. Some days there was rain (heavy) for an hour or so, then the sun came back out and it got really warm!

The accommodation was good at all our stays and we saw some lovely places.

If I was going to do it again, I would spend longer in Copenhagen, definitely revisit Gilleje and Sæby, maybe spend longer in Jutland, so I would drive shorter days, and I would try to stay in Odense again on the way back so I could do my ferry ride the next day! If I didn't have the extra day, I could miss out Skagen.

All in all, a lovely holiday in a region I have long wanted to see! Well organised (as usual) and very good hotels. The food everywhere was excellent! I look forward to booking with you again for Sweden next year - maybe you could let me know the best months to go?

Thanks for all your hard work; I hope this review helps. If you need to know more, please get back to me,

Best regards,

Richard

Thank you  for organising such a wonderful Baltic holiday. We had a great time and all the arrangements went very smoothly.

The only aspect that was slightly disappointing was in St Petersburg the day touring the city was hampered by The celebrations of THE RED SAIL as the roads around the city were closed so we had to abandon the car and complete the tour from The Hermitage back to the Hotel on foot. Also the city was incredibly busy and it was not possible to book any further excursions and as a consequence missed out on St Catherine's Palace. However we did manage to make a short trip to Peter Hof although the upper park and palace were closed.

We would certainly recommend using Baltic Holidays to any of our friends wishing to travel to the area and would definitely consider using them again if we travelled back to any Baltic State.

Thank you once again for your excellent service.

We liked Bornholm, Ronne and the other towns we visited, the round Churches, the amazing coast and the people we met were very friendly. I think that cycling is the best way to discover the beauties of this island.

A big Thank you for organising this trip.
My daughter and I had a great time. Both hotels were great.

Copenhagen is a lovely city and the travelling card was a good idea.
Fantastic location for both hotels, and both very very nice hotel (specially the one in Gilleleje)
The staff was very friendly and very helpful (my daughter has lost her sun glasses on the train and they really tried to get them back)
Loved your country and loved the lovely sea side village too.
The bikes were good and the route planned was very useful.

"Dear Lena.
I don’t want to let another day pass without writing to you to thank you very much indeed for looking after us so well and for ensuring that we had a wonderful experience looking at the wealth of historic buildings in your home country.  The buildings and the great food we were introduced to! What great cooks your compatriots are and what excellent, fresh ingredients they served up! Those buffets, including the breakfast ones, were an absolute joy to choose from. But more than anything it was your great smile and can-do attitude through even sometimes the most trying circumstances which made the holiday for me,‘perfect’ as you would say !"
