Iceland is a destination like no other, a pure and unpolluted adventure playground waiting for you to explore its natural wonders and immerse in its breathtaking natural scenery.

Why Is Iceland Popular?

Known as the land of fire and ice, Iceland has a lot to offer: from magnificent glaciers, awesome volcanic craters and mountains, geysers and thundering waterfalls, geothermal springs, and the Northern Lights - these are some of the top experiences that attract worldwide tourists, making Iceland one of the most popular holiday destinations in the Arctic.

Why Go to Iceland on Holidays?

Visiting Iceland is an experience out of this world, with unique landscapes which make up for an unforgettable holiday. Whether you are chasing the Northern Lights, whale watching, taking the Golden Circle tour, visiting ice caves, or discovering Reykjavík, Iceland trips are worth booking.

Can You See the Northern Lights on Iceland Tours?

Iceland is one of the most top destinations when it comes to chasing the Northern Lights adventure. You can see the aurora borealis from Reykjavik, the Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon, the Reykjanes Peninsula, the Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, or Lake Myvatn - amongst the most popular destinations or book a Northern Lights package holiday that would suit your budget and travel plans.

What Is the Best Month to Go to Iceland?

If you're looking for good weather, the summers months from May to August are ideal for visiting Iceland thanks to the midnight sun and the hot temperatures. However, if your holiday bookings are aimed at experiencing the aurora borealis, then you must know that the Northern Light season starts in late August and lasts until end of April, with the peak months of September and March.

How Many Days Are Enough to Tour Iceland?

In just a week you can explore the highlights of the Icelandic tour, or depending on your time and budget, you can book a tailor-made holiday for as long as you like.

Baltic Travel offers plenty of tours that would allow you to explore Iceland in the best way you see fit. You can book a 8 days activity holiday that takes you right into the heart of Iceland’s nature, allowing you to explore glacier walking, hot springs, river rafting on the White River, horse riding, biking and hiking in the beautiful Þingvellir National Park. Or, you can book our Classic Iceland tour package for 9 days to discover the Icelandic mountains, volcanoes, waterfalls, hot springs and countryside with valleys, glaciers and rivers.

Is Iceland Expensive for a Holiday?

Iceland is an amazing, yet affordable holiday destination. Although some holiday packages can be pricey, there are deals for every pocket, and you will find it is easy to see Iceland on a budget. We are always happy to create a bespoke trip for you!

How Much Does a Holiday to Iceland Cost?

Our holiday packages start from as little as £795 pp for a 4 day holiday to more expensive holidays such as £1,725 pp for 7 days, depending on the holiday destination and type. Make sure to check regularly our holiday packages and choose the holiday type you desire, then use the filter to sort by popularity or price, and you'll find what best suits your preferences.

What Are Iceland's Top Attractions?

No trips to Iceland are complete without visiting Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, mirroring the surrounding volcanic country side. The most northern capital in the world has nature lying right on its doorstep. Reykjavik gives you the chance to bathe yourself not only in the Northern Lights and the many geothermal pools, but also in the brilliant music and arts scene, not to mention the notorious night life! Trips to Iceland, to this truly modern city providing great food, amazing scenery, museums and shopping facilities have become ever growing in popularity with more packages becoming available by the day.

When arranging your Iceland holidays, be sure to ride down the surrounding ski slopes, visit the immense concrete wonder that is Hallgrimskirkja and enjoy the unmissable and panoramic view of the city from its 73-metre-high church tower. Be part of history in the beautiful wooden Hofdi House, and stand in the space where Reagan and Gorbachev in effect ended the Cold War. A visit to the Saga Museum in Reykjavik, will provide you with insight in Viking history and the Icelandic Sagas, one of which is said to have inspired J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of The Rings.

Enjoy a concert in the impressive Harpa Concert and Conference Centre or take a 40 minute drive out of the city and submerge yourself in the mineral rich, thermal waters of the famous Blue Lagoon, as popular for Summer Holidays to Iceland as for Iceland winter holidays.

Leave the city behind and travel further into Iceland's dramatic landscape, and see for yourself how the ancient battle between ice and fire still continues to this day, through the immense power outlets of raging water falls, gurgling whirlpools, active volcanoes and geysers ejecting their jet-like eruptions of hot water metres into the air.

What To Do in Iceland?

Iceland has been voted one of the top 10 destinations worldwide for whale watching, but if you prefer to go deep, you can experience some of the best and most challenging dives around, as you swim, snorkel or dive through waters of amazing visibility around the only geothermal underwater chimneys in the world, another popular activity among those arranging trips to Iceland. Want to stay dry? Try your hand at ice climbing, arctic rafting on the Hvita river or take a snowmobile across the Langjokull Glacier.

At Thingvellir National Park in Iceland, you can watch the Gullfoss waterfall tumble 32 metres down or walk between the American and European tectonic plates at this Unesco heritage site, the place of Iceland's first National Assembly dating back to 930 AD.

When selecting from our range of Iceland holiday packages, be sure to consider experiencing the crevasse-riddled outlet glacier of Solheimajokull and enjoy this magnificent frozen wonder with its ice formations and sink holes. Hike through Laugavegurinn amid endless hours of summer daylight and even more breathtaking scenery.

During your trips to Iceland, ensure you also visit Europe's largest National Park, Vatnajokull, and its blue iced glacier, gurgling whirlpools and cascading waterfalls. For the adventurous individuals, we can highly recommend a caving trek in lava caves and craters.

An honourable mention must however go to the four legged part of this remarkable nation, the Icelandic horse. This sure-footed, much admired and immensely strong little horse cannot only carry a very heavy burden, but is an integral part of Icelandic society and history. It is a living national treasure, loved and respected by all. They are anybody's to ride and have a special gait that makes it almost impossible for anyone not to enjoy the ride. So if you want a truly authentic way of seeing this country, let this intelligent, people loving, little horse lead you on a highly recommended adventure.

Hi laura

I just want to say what a fantastic holiday in Iceland I had. The activities were great (shame I missed the hiking and probably down to a bit of over indulgence for my birthday!) and I met some lovely people on my travels.
A massive thank you goes to you and the team at Baltic travel for the great service you have given and I will definitely be using your services again in the future! I have included some photos for you to see.
Once again, many thanks!

Best wishes
Steve

Hi Inga,

We had an amazing time thank you. We were just so lucky with the weather, 4 days of glorious blue skies which meant not only were our photos amazing but we were able to do so much more up on the Glaciers, that is a first on my visits to Iceland, 4 days in a row of blue skies.

The Northern lights were not Playing along, no sightings on our organised trip so we booked another when we were there and saw them a little bit, but we all know that’s what makes them special, waiting to see if they show up or not.

Our accommodation was really good, such a sweet little boutique hotel and everything in Reykjavik was walking distance from it.

Kind Regards

Nikki

Hello Julija,

We are home having had a lovely holiday in Iceland. Thank you very much for organising this and for helping us out so efficiently  with the logistics over the bus and hotel staff strike on the last day. However the strike was abandoned at the last minute.

The only comment we have is the quality of the Hotel Cabin. It was in effect more like a hostel for schools with several school parties were indeed there. The food was also in keeping with a hostel stopover. The rooms were tiny with literally no space for the luggage and some rooms don’t even have a window to the outside. It might be good to warn people who book holidays with a stopover in Reykjavík  such that they could opt for a better quality (although probably more expensive) hotel if they wish.

With best wishes

Imogen
