Norwegian Panorama Fly-Drive itinerary:

DAY 1: OSLO – LILLEHAMMER (190 km)
Arrival in Oslo, the capital of Norway. Pickup your rental car and drive from Oslo via Hamar to Lillehammer, the host town of the 1994 Winter Olympics. In Lillehammer you can visit Maihaugen Open Air Museum, which tells the story of people in the Gudbrandsdalen Valley the last 300 years, of life between the wars in the inland town of Lillehammer and of homes and domestic environments in the 20th century. Also recommendable is a visit at the Olympic Museum and the Olympic Arena (Lysgårdsbakken).
Accommodation at Rica Victoria Hotel, Lillehammer or similar.

DAY 2: LILLEHAMMER – RØROS (270 km)
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive through the Gudbrandsdalen Valley to Ringebu before continuing along the Ronde Road with view to the beautiful Rondane National Park. In Østerdalen Valley, where you will have the possibility to see foxes and elks, the route continues in northern direction along Norway’s longest river Glomma to the mining town of Røros. The town is one of the oldest towns of wooden buildings in Europe, and also one of the few mining towns in the world that has been found worthy of a place on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. The town centre boasts a rare collection of large and well-preserved wooden buildings, made all the more real and authentic by the fact that the people of today live and work in them.
Accommodation at Røros Hotel, Røros or similar.

DAY 3: RØROS – TRONDHEIM (160 km)
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from Røros in north western direction to Trondheim, Norway’s third largest city. The city was founded by Viking King Olav Tryggvason in 997 BC, and occupies a special place in Norwegian culture and history. Trondheim was Norway’s first capital and continues to be the coronation city where Norway's Kings from Harald Hårfagre (10th century BC) to King Harald V (1991 -) have been crowned and blessed.
Accommodation at Scandic Hotel Solsiden, Trondheim or similar.

DAY 4: TRONDHEIM
Breakfast at the hotel. Day at your own disposal. Visit the Nidaros Cathedral, built over the grave of St. Olav. Next to the cathedral you will find the Archbishop’s Palace, the oldest secular building in Scandinavia. Other sights of interest are Kristiansten Fortress, the Monk’s Island, Trøndelag Open Air Museum and Stiftsgården – the Royal Residence in Trondheim. Also recommended is to have a walk in Bakklandet, located on the east bank of the river Nid. Here you will find old wooden buildings which were formerly worker’s dwellings but are now partly restored as homes or charming shops and restaurants
Accommodation at Scandic Hotel Solsiden, Trondheim or similar.

DAY 5: TRONDHEIM – THE ATLANTIC OCEAN ROAD – MOLDE (370 km)
Breakfast at the hotel. Today the journey continues in south-western direction to Nordmøre - a region characterized by the amazingly short distances between high mountain ranges and the wild open sea, between sheltered rural communities in fjord country and island communities with a genuine and living coastal heritage. A short ferry crossing from Halsa to Kanestraum will bring you towards the klip fish town of Kristiansund. From there the ferry crossing to Bremsnes will take you to the Atlantic Ocean Road - The 8.3 km long road is built on several small islands and skerries, and is spanned by eight bridges and several landfills. The Atlantic Ocean Road was voted "Norwegian Construction of the Century" in 2005, and is currently Norway's second most visited scenic road after the Troll Road. Continue on the scenic road via Hustad and Bud to Molde, the Town of Roses. Molde is well known for the beautiful nature surrounding it, including the Molde Panorama with its 222 mountain peaks.
Accommodation at Quality Hotel Alexandra, Molde or similar.

DAY 6: MOLDE – GEIRANGER FJORD – BEITOSTØLEN (305 km)
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning departure by ferry across the Molde fjord to Vestnes.  Continue to Åndalsnes where you will ascend the famous Troll Road. The road has 11 turns and the highest point is 858 meters above sea level. Dramatic, exciting and the ultimate nature experience - this is the best way to describe it. A short ferry crossing from Linge to Eidsdal will bring you to the Eagle Road, with panoramic view of the Geirangerfjord. The Geirangerfjord was added to the UNESCO world heritage list in 2005, and is truly a spectacular sight with its waterfalls and steep hills. In Geiranger you can visit the Norwegian Fjord Centre, where you can experience what the people who lived along the fjord were like and how they lived. Continue to the mountain village of Beitostølen, in view of the impressive Jotunheimen Mountain Range with Galdhøpiggen as Norway’s highest mountain (2469 metres).
Accommodation at Bergo Hotel, Beitostølen or similar.

DAY 7: BEITOSTØLEN – OSLO (210 km)
Breakfast at the hotel. Leave Beitostølen heading south via Fagernes and Hønefoss to Oslo. The Norwegian capital is beautifully situated at the head of the Oslo Fjord and surrounded by forested ridges. Oslo offers many well know sights such as the Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Viking Ship Museum, the Munch Museum and Holmenkollen Ski Jump. Accommodation at Thon Hotel Vettre, Oslo (or similar).
Accommodation at Quality Hotel 33, outside the city centre.

DAY 8: DEPARTURE FROM OSLO
Breakfast at the hotel. Check out from your hotel and return the rental car before your flight back home.
