The charming capital Copenhagen offers world-renowned gastronomy, a host of museums and year-round entertainment. A thousand years of royal history awaits you in the medieval streets walked on my every generation of the world's oldest royal family. The city has inspired artists for centuries and been home and workplace to famous craftsmen and designers. And visiting the famous Little Mermaid statue and Tivoli Garden with its fairy tale atmostphere is a must.

Venture out and you'll find the beautiful island of Bornholm with its stunning coastline, beautiful hilly countryside and its tradition of elves.

There's something for people of all ages at both Legoland and Odense, the charming medieval birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen with its cobbled streets and half-timbered houses.

And you can follow the scenic Marguerite route to discover quintessential Danish villages and a nation that revels in a slower pace of life and an enviable work-life balance.

On the island of Zealand, Kronborg Castle provided the setting for Shakespeare's Hamlet. Amazing global art fills Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebaek. Inland, in Hilleroed's 17th-century Frederiksborg Castle, the Museum of National History has portraits and decorative arts.

Dyrehaven is a stunning forest park north of Copenhagen noted for its mixture of huge, ancient oak trees and large populations of red and fallow deer. And at Grenen in Skagen, Jutland, you'll find a sweeping sandbar alive with birds.
