Day 1: Stockholm

Arrival in Stockholm according to your own itinerary. Time to explore the cities well-preserved medieval buildings that stand alongside modern architecture. Just outside the city, the archipelago of 24.000 islands is definitely worth visiting. Sights of interest include the Vasa Museum, Skansen Open Air Museum, City Hall and of course the Old Town (Gamla Stan).

Accommodation at Hellstens Malmgård or similar

Day 2: Stockholm – Nynäshamn – Visby

Breakfast at the hotel. Today your journey continues by local train from Stockholm to Nynäshamn where the ferry to Visby departs. The ferry transports you from the Swedish mainland to Gotland in approximately 3 hours. In the afternoon stroll through the city to see charming 17th century wooden houses, the Cathedral of St.Mary and the famous Ring wall.

Accommodation at Best Western Hotel Solhem or similar (2 nights)

Day 3: Visby & Gotland

Breakfast at the hotel. Today you have the opportunity to explore Visby and the fantastic Island of Gotland. We suggest a day excursion to the north-western parts of Gotland and the Lummelunda caves by public bus. If you don’t feel like going back to Visby just yet, continue by the same bus to Lickershamn. Here you will find one of Gotlands most famous land marks, Raukar. Raukar is stone stacks that have been formed by the ocean for thousands of years. On a sunny day we recommend a visit to the famous white Tofta Beach, located just outside Visby town.

Day 4: Visby – Stockholm

Breakfast at the hotel. Check out from the hotel and take a short walk to the Ferry terminal for departure to Nynäshamn. From here you will take the train back to Stockholm. Arriving in Stockholm you will have time to relax and explore the city further.

Inga,

Thanks for your email. We had a wonderful holiday both in Norway and Sweden. Unfortunately, it was not long enough. The entire guided tour in Norway was excellent with a very professional and caring guide.

Hotels in all locations were good too. I believe we made a very good choice. Weather was bonus too.

First of all, thank you so much for arranging our holiday itinerary. All of the details were factually spot on, and with the help of your detailed instructions, everything ran completely seamlessly.

In terms of Visby, it is a fantastic place. The hotel was luxurious and in easy walking distance from the ferry terminal, and I’ve got to say that the breakfast selection was mind-blowing. I particularly enjoyed trying four different types of pickled fish !!!

As for the location, we enjoyed a lengthy coastal walk, explored the city walls and cathedral and sampled two fantastic evening meals, as well as copious amounts of the locally produced beer, with “Sleepy Bulldog” summer ale being my particular favourite.

As there was so much to do in Visby, we didn’t have time to explore any other parts of Gotland, but we would certainly like to return to see more in the near future.

Thanks once again for making this holiday possible, and let’s hope that the unfortunate “Brexit” developments don’t make future similar trips more difficult.

Regards

Peter

We had a fantastic time. Everything went so smoothly. The cycle trip was wonderful and we were lucky with the weather. The wild flowers were just beautiful and no midges in sight!

Travel experience were great, instructions, accommodation, luggage transfers etc all very efficient and good quality.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stays in Helsinki, Gotland and Stockholm and your

little maps for finding the hotels were so helpful when we arrived.

The Best Western in Visby was especially good, a very friendly atmosphere and helpful staff. We felt we could have stayed on there.

The breakfasts everywhere we stayed were excellent, healthy and such variety, they kept
us going for the rest of the day.

Thanks again for a great holiday
Regards
Julie and Dean

Car Rental

You can rent a car, as long as you have a valid EU or international driver's license. Most cars will have manual transmission.

Transportation

Railway mostly serves domestic routes and is used as an easy and quick way to get from the capital to major cities of the country. There are some international routes, like to Moscow and St. Petersburg, but time spent on the way will be quite long.

Buses are one of the most convenient ways to travel between the Baltic States. Eurolines will get you between Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn. One way tickets will cost £ 15 - £ 20 and approximate travel time is 5 hours between the cities. Ticket reservations in advance are recommended.

Taxis are the quickest and most convenient way of travelling round the city. You'll find them located close to the main hotels. Usually it's quite easy to catch a taxi on the street, however, it's much better and safer to order one by phone. Taxi costs in all of the Baltic countries and Poland are approximately the same and a ride in the centre of the city will cost you approx £ 5 - £ 7.  Taxis in Finland and Russia are considerably more expensive.  It is always a good idea to get your hotel to book a taxi for you and ask approximately how much the trip will cost before you get in.

We would not recommend you to take public transportation within the city, as it's usually crowded and it may cause you unnecessary anxiety about where to stop.
