Explore the absolutely incredible Icehotel, located at the river shores of the village Jukkasjarvi inside of the Arctic Circle. It is every year built from the ice of the Torne River and every room is an art experience in itself.
Double rooms and suites constructed entirely of ice, an ice lobby, a chamber of ice pillars and the famous Icebar, where you ordered a whisky on the rocks of course. Everything has a bluish sheen, as though you were staying in a glacier that had just carved. At Icehotel you'll find two different restaurants. The Icehotel Restaurant has a modern Scandinavian style and the Old Homestead Restaurant is a charming, historical log building. You stay in -5 °C, in a room made of snow and ice. You sleep in a thermal sleeping bag on a special bed of snow and ice, on reindeer skins. In the morning you will be awakened with a cup of hot lingonberry juice at your bedside. Breakfast buffet, morning sauna, bedlinen and towels are included. To spend a night at Icehotel is an experience - and not like any other hotel stay and you will be surrounded by art work made of ice and snow, by artists from all over the world.
In the Icehotel it never gets colder than –5 to -8ºC, regardless of the fact that the outdoor temperature sometimes drops down to -30º. It sounds very cold but dressed ( in layers ) wisely it is not. Between 10am and 6pm Icehotel is open for the public after closing it doors, it's only available for guests.
