Coastal Holidays to Estonia
Coastal holidays in Estonia have a lot to offer for both adults and children. Enjoy quiet beaches, outdoor activities such as sailing and cycling or relax at a wonderful spa.
Estonia is blessed with a beautiful coastline and many islands, which are within easy reach of the mainland.
Pärnu is the best known Estonian resort on the mainland. In the summer the town is buzzing with activity as locals flock to the beach. There is plenty to do in Parnu, with dozens of music festivals, night clubs and restaurants to entertain holiday makers. The town itself is beautiful, any time of year, with a lovely harbour and distinctive architecture from the Hanseatic period. There is also a university in Parnu so it is always lively.
Pärnu was discovered by the Baltic Germans in the 19th century and the population of the town tripled in the 20th century as people from all over the Soviet Union flocked here. Now the visitors are coming from Scandinavia and the rest of Europe to enjoy the spas and relaxed atmosphere.
For a different flavour of Estonian coastal life, you can head to Saaremaa, Estonia's largest island, for a relaxing spa break, some fantastic medieval architecture and unspoiled nature. Saaremaa presents a welcome break from the buzz of mainland life, offering peace and natural beauty together with more than 5,000 years of history. The largest town of Saaremaa is Kuressaare with a population of about 16,000, and is approximately 135 miles from Tallinn. The island is ideal for cycling or walking and offers a beautiful backdrop of windmills, medieval buildings, limestone cliffs and rare wildlife.
