Latvia typically has warm, dry summers and fairly severe winters. January is the coldest month with daytime temperatures usually around –1C to - 5C, but in some cases winter months can be colder, with temperatures far below zero. The yearly average number of days with snow is about eighty days between November and March.
During summer, the average daytime temperatures are +20C to +25C, but sometimes reach +30°C or more. Summers are usually dry, but be prepared for the occasional thunderstorm.
Generally, the weather is best from May - September, when days are warm, nights are cool and daylight hours are long. It tends to rain more in spring than in summer. Autumn days can be warm, but the nights usually a little chilly and wet, sometimes snowy and often foggy.
