Short breaks in Riga are an ideal way to spend a weekend away. Riga is served by direct flights from the UK. The flight takes about two and a half hours. Riga has a wide range of hotels, restaurants and entertainment to choose from, so you can be assured that there is somehting for everyone.
Riga is an ideal city break destination. With its 800,000 inhabitants, it is the largest and most exciting of the Baltic cities. It boasts a remarkable legacy of
Gothic, Baroque and Classical architecture, not to mention the biggest collection of
Art Nouveau or 'Jugendstil' architecture in the world. The old town, dating back to 1201, has been included in the
UNESCO World Heritage List. Its narrow, cobblestone streets wind through beautifully restored buildings and historic passageways within the fortress walls. The Old Town is small enough to enjoy on foot (cars are not allowed), but if you do get lost, you can always get your bearings from the many unique church steeples that tower above the city.
