Staue in Odense of Hans Christian Andersen by Bob Krist - Visit Denmark Odense by Roland Jung-Visit Denmark

Odense - Hans Christian Andersen

Odense by Roland Jung-Visit Denmark

Odense, where Hans Christian Andersen was born, is the second largest town in Denmark and certainly, with its beautiful houses and cobblestones, worth a visit. You can easily go by train to visit for the day ( or less ). Hans Christian Andersen is one of the most famous writers for childrens stories/ fairytales and his stories translated into many languages. His stories can been interpreted to several ballets, animated films etc. He was born over 200 years ago and still known by most children to this day.

His first published story was "the Ghost at Palnatoke's Grave", he finished when he was not even 20 years old.

Stories go he was from a noble family but some claim it was only wishful thinking. Rumours go his education was paid by the Royal Family and the reason was he was the illegitimate son of the Royal Family. Again, nothing was ever proved. However, on his own account Hans Christian was an amazing writer for children and how he became famous. If you visit Odense you can see his childhood home.
