Distinctive Architecture In Jurmala
One of the most characteristic features of the city is the architecture. The wooden buildings found in the region were built between the 19th century and the earlier periods of the 20th century. Most of the buildings were constructed by Latvian and Baltic German architects, with a few contributions of Finnish and Russian origins. The influence on architecture can be predominantly classified into three categories: modern style, national romanticism, and classicism. As many as 4,000 wooden buildings are found in the city, along with 414 historical buildings that have been officially designated for preservation.
Spend Time At The Beaches Of Jurmala
The beach in Jurmala spreads across 33 km and is covered with beautiful white quartz sand. The shallow waters at the coast are ideal for splashing about in and with playgrounds, football fields, food stalls and more, the beach is ideal for all kinds of relaxation and fun.
The different beaches in the individual regions are each known for their own traits. In Bulduri and Majori the famous Blue Flag beach is found, the only one of this standard and repute in the Baltic region. One can spend time in the beach café and rent water bicycles here.
On Pumpuri beach one can try out windsurfing and kite surfing. The river Lielupe also provides a great opportunity for those who enjoy water sports because there is provision for water skiing, sailing and rowing.
