              Located far out in the frigid waters of the Atlantic Ocean, Greenland has always been a remote and difficult destination to visit. But did you know that the nation\u2019s largest and busiest airport was originally built by the United States when they occupied Greenland during World War II?<\/p>\n

              This little known fact will be of interest, because if you\u2019re flying into Greenland then it\u2019s likely you\u2019ll be landing at Kangerlussuaq Airport. Many decades on from WWII, it\u2019s still the longest <\/em>airport in the country.<\/p>\n

              It\u2019s hoped that the airport at Nuuk (the capital) can also be extended to accommodate trans-Atlantic flights, while more airports are in development to open Greenland up for tourists.<\/p>\n
