As the cold, dark winter months slowly recede into distant memory, spring rolls around Copenhagen filled with new vibrancy and energy, as the days lengthen and the sun begins to shine.

Over the Easter holidays, Copenhagen can, of course, be busy, but you’ll find the atmosphere in the city to be lively and fun. If you are looking for some wonderful Easter eggs, then the city is full of great chocolate and sweet shops, while the local restaurants offer you the chance to eat your way through some of the best Nordic cuisine in Europe.

Copenhagen is the perfect Easter getaway. To inspire your trip to the Danish capital, here are some of our favourite reasons to visit.

Tivoli Gardens

Tivoli Gardens is one of Copenhagen’s most iconic, long-standing attractions, for both tourists and locals alike. No trip to the Danish capital is complete without a visit to one of the world’s oldest theme parks and, over Easter, it’s a particularly lively place to be.

The park dates back to 1843 and it’s full of great rides and attractions, including the oldest operational wooden rollercoaster found anywhere on the planet. You can also find the charming Pleasure Gardens at Tivoli and, during spring, you’ll see the flowers start to bloom.

Copenhagen Ski Slope

Copenhagen’s newest attraction is an artificial ski slope that, rather strangely, has been built on the city’s rubbish collection facilities. It might sound unattractive, but actually, it’s a sign of Denmark’s forward thinking when it comes to resource management, as the centre is actually a power plant that turns waste into energy.

The ski slope makes use of the same location atop Copenhill, turning the power plant into a recreational area too. It’s the first of its kind in Europe, and perhaps is how the future will look across cities everywhere soon.

Copenhagen Canals

Copenhagen is a watery city, with a great network of historic canals connecting different districts to the harbour.
