Hello Iveta,

We really enjoyed the holiday as each place was so different and interesting to discover.  The tour guide in Vilnius was really good and we were fortunate to see a procession of pilgrims going to the Gates of Dawn.  Our first meal happened to be Indian as it was just outside our hotel which was brilliant.  We also had a typical Lithuanian meal at a place called Lokys which was very tasty even though more on the expensive side.  The one way system was a challenge but we found Hotel Amberton eventually.  Unfortunately there were no spaces in hotel car park so had to get up early each morning to put money in meter.

The Sana spa hotel in Druskininkai was excellent except that we did not manage to have the back massage together as planned.  They did not seem to understand that we expected the massage to be in the same room. However it was a very good massage.  The buffet breakfasts we would highly recommend.  We enjoyed the park and boat trip here.  We enjoyed lunch at Pusymas so much we had evening meal the next day here.

The Amber Gallery in Nida is definitely worth visiting.  The staff were very knowledgable and gave personal touch to our visit.

Without going into any detail about the other places we visited they were all a worthwhile part of our journey.

The distance between places was manageable and driving conditions much better than back home.  We found some of the road signs difficult to read, especially in the towns so a good map or sat nav would be useful.

The balance between travelling and time spent in places we visited was just right.

When we arrived at Turne in Silulai we discovered it was a Guest House rather than the Hotel of the same name but we opted to stay at Guest House as it had taken awhile to find it.  We were leaving early next morning anyway.

My friend enjoyed the holiday very much, especially her memories of the different foods her Grandmother cooked for her as a child.  She particularly enjoyed beetroot soup, potato pancakes, coleslaw and apple fritters.  We both developed a liking for krupnikas with our coffee after dinner!

We now have hundreds of photos and video footage to edit!  Lots of happy memories.

Thank you for all your help and advice in putting together this special holiday for us. We would definitely recommend your company to our friends and relatives when travelling to the Baltics.

Thanks, once again for all your help in making it such a memorable trip.

Ann

Car Rental

You can rent a car, as long as you have a valid EU or international driver's license. Most cars will have manual transmission.

Transportation

Railway mostly serves domestic routes and is used as an easy and quick way to get from the capital to major cities of the country. There are some international routes, like to Moscow and St. Petersburg, but time spent on the way will be quite long.

Buses are one of the most convenient ways to travel between the Baltic States. Eurolines will get you between Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn. One way tickets will cost £ 15 - £ 20 and approximate travel time is 5 hours between the cities. Ticket reservations in advance are recommended.

Taxis are the quickest and most convenient way of travelling round the city. You'll find them located close to the main hotels. Usually it's quite easy to catch a taxi on the street, however, it's much better and safer to order one by phone. Taxi costs in all of the Baltic countries and Poland are approximately the same and a ride in the centre of the city will cost you approx £ 5 - £ 7.  Taxis in Finland and Russia are considerably more expensive.  It is always a good idea to get your hotel to book a taxi for you and ask approximately how much the trip will cost before you get in.

We would not recommend you to take public transportation within the city, as it's usually crowded and it may cause you unnecessary anxiety about where to stop.
