Bratislava, Vienna, Budapest & Banska Stiavnica

Overview:

Slovakia is a former part of the Soviet bloc with appx. 5 million inhabitants and was previously one half of Czechoslovakia before it became independent as part of the famous velvet divorce of January 1st 1993. The two countries even divided their former national anthem amicably. Slovakia became part of the EU and NATO in 1994. The country uses the EURO currency and has wonderful forests and peaceful countryside..

Bratislava, the capital, has been restored to a great extent with respect for the existing architecture. A mix of ancient churches; Baroque buildings and Art Deco cafes makes Bratislava a great walking city. Banska Stiavnica in Slovakia is a UNESCO protected town with outstanding architecture and buildings. Situated in an ancient caldera created by the collapse of a long extinct volcano, Banksa Stiavnica is a completely preserved mediaeval town with a wonderful central square surrounding its monumental plague column.

Vienna, the former seat of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, boasts Hapsburg architecture with tales of ancient kingdoms and battles, Museums, Castles, Cathedrals, Opera and Viennese cafes serving the Emperor Franz Joseph's favourite Tafelspitz. The famous Lipizzaner horses show off their classic moves at the equally renowned Spanish Riding School and its opera houses and concert halls reflect the city's former residents including Mozart and Beethoven. Vienna is called "the beauty of the Danube" with good reason.

Budapest has brought itself to the attention of many visitors, displaying again amazing architecture with much to tell. This city is on the River Danube and, with its neighbouring Hungarian Mountains, offers great sights and historical buildings like the Parliament and Cathedrals.

Price starts from £ 1,295 per person based on availability and sharing a twin or double room. Minimum 2 people.
