Moscow - Kazan Highlights tour itinerary:
DAY 1 (SATURDAY): ARRIVAL IN MOSCOW
On arrival in Moscow, you will be met and transferred to Renaissance Moscow Hotel Monarch Centre 4-5* to check in for 3 nights.
DAY 2 (SUNDAY): MOSCOW
After breakfast at the hotel, your English speaking tour guide will meet you at Reception at 09:45 for a full day panoramic orientation tour of the city, viewing the famous landmarks and places to which you may return at your leisure. The tour sights include Red Square, the Kremlin, Sparrow Hills, Bolshoi Theatre, Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, Victory Park, Novodevichy Convent, the White House, and the famous Moscow streets (entrances are not included, only photo stops). Time for some lunch in the city and in the afternoon you’ll visit the Tretyakov Art Gallery.
DAY 3 (MONDAY): MOSCOW
After breakfast, you will continue to explore the sights of Moscow. You will explore the grounds of the magnificent Kremlin and visit one of the cathedrals. Within the Kremlin you will see the fascinating Armoury Museum, your guide will include a visit to this spectacular collection of costumes, silver and arms amongst a vast treasure trove of exhibits. Return to the hotel at 14:00 for an afternoon of free time.
DAY 4 (TUESDAY): MOSCOW – KAZAN
After breakfast at the hotel, your guide will take you on a walking tour along the Arbat – where you will have the opportunity to soak up the Moscow culture and browse and shop at leisure. You will also be taken to visit some of the spectacular underground stations in Moscow.
In the evening – transfer to the railway station for your journey to Kazan at 19:20 on an overnight train (sharing 2-berth compartment).
DAY 5 (WEDNESDAY): KAZAN
Upon arrival in Kazan at 08:24, you will be met by your guide and transfer to the Grand Hotel Kazan for breakfasts. At 11:00 guide will take you for a city sightseeing tour. The excursion includes a visit to the Kazan Kremlin (Koul Sherif mosque, Annunciation Cathedral, Suuymbeki tower) – citadel of Kazan khans, reconstructed by the Russian builders in 16 century, St. Peter and Paul Cathedral, Kazan university, pedestrian Bauman street in the historic center.
DAY 6 (THURSDAY): KAZAN
After breakfast you will be taken on a tour "The Treasures of Kazan Khans". This excursion takes you to the Old-Tatar settlement with its narrow streets, wooden houses and carved fences. We drive along the ancient streets to the Wild Boar Lake, where according to legend, the treasures of Tatar khans are hidden. Visit Mardzhany or Zakabannaya Mosque, the park of Kazan Millenium, and the museum of Millenium of Kazan in the national Cultural center “Kazan”.
DAY 7 (FRIDAY): KAZAN - MOSCOW
Breakfast at the hotel. Today's excursion is the “History of Russian Orthodoxy in Tatarstan” with a visit to Raifa monastery on the territory of the Volga-Kama nature preserve. We get acquainted with the history of the Kazan diocese and monastic life. Raifa is guarded by god cloister. It astonishes pilgrims with the beauty of it’s cathedrals. Founded in the early 17 century, the monastery lies on the bank of the beautiful Raifa lake. The road to it passes through the Volga-Kama nature preserve and Tatar settlement. The famous miraculous icon of the Virgin of Georgia (17 century) is kept in the interior of the Georgian Cathedral.
In the evening - transfer to Kazan Railway Station or your overnight train to Moscow. Train departs approximately at 21:35. Accommodation in 2-berth compartments.
DAY 8 (SATURDAY): DEPARTURE FROM MOSCOW
Arrive in Moscow at 10:35 and transfer to the airport. Return flight.
