RECOMMENDED ITINERARY
DAY 1 Arrival to Rovaniemi airport, on the Arctic Circle. Transfer to your hotel with the airport taxi. Overnight in the hotel in Rovaniemi.
DAY 2 - 7 Rovaniemi - Luosto Morning at leisure in Rovaniemi – visit Santa Claus Village or explore the city. In the afternoon transfer by bus to the Aurora Chalet Hotel in Luosto and enjoy your six night stay in the heart of snow-covered Finnish Lapland. You can choose from a range of activities (see below). There is also a downhill ski centre in Luosto.
- WINTER FISHING TRIP Ride in a sleigh drawn by snowmobile for a winter ice fishing experience. Includes hot coffee around an open fire. £ 70 per person
- SCENIC SNOWMOBILE SAFARI Enjoy a snowmobile tour through the winter landscapes of Luosto. The tour includes a break for hot drinks by open fire. £ 80 per person (2 persons sharing a vehicle) / £ 110 per person (sole use of the snowmobile).
- IN SEARCH FOR THE NORTHERN LIGHTS – BY SNOWSHOE Snowshoe trek by night to find the best spot for admiring the Northern Lights. Hot drink included. £ 50 per person
- SAFARI TO AMETHYST MINE Ride by snowmobile to the top of the Lampivaara fell to visit Europe’s only Amethyst mine open to visitors. Learn about this fascinating stone, and search for your own. £ 75 per person (2 persons sharing a vehicle) / £ 105 per person (sole use of the snowmobile).
- AURORA BOREALIS Visit the Aurora Tepee by car for an audio-visual presentation on the Northern Lights. £ 65 per person
- CROSS COUNTRY SKIING SCHOOL Learn the basics of cross country skiing whilst enjoying the atmospheric winter surroundings. Includes instruction and all necessary equipment. £ 45 per person
- SAFARI TO REINDEER PARK Depart by snowmobiles to a local reindeer farm. Learn about reindeer husbandry and enjoy a ½-hour ride in a reindeer-drawn sled, followed by a hot drink round a campfire. Return to Luosto by snowmobiles. Total duration 3 hours. £ 110 per person (2 persons sharing a snowmobile) / £ 135 per person (sole use of the snowmobile).
- SAFARI WITH SNOWMOBILES AND HUSKIES Drive by snowmobile to a husky farm. Meet the yelping dogs and take a 4 km ride with a team of huskies. Hot coffee is served round an open fire. £ 110 per person (2 pax sharing a snowmobile) / £ 135 per person (sole use of the snowmobile).
- HUSKY SAFARI Transfer by car to a husky farm. Meet the yelping dogs and take an extended 1 hour ride with a team of huskies. 2 people to share a sled, one driving and one a passenger in the sled. Grilled sausages & hot coffee are served round an open fire. Return to the hotel by car. £ 65 per person
DAY 8 Departure. Take the morning bus to Rovaniemi airport for your flights back to London via Helsinki.
All activities are fully guided with professionally trained guide. Participants are equipped with warm winter clothing for the duration of the trips. Drivers of snowmobiles and husky sleds must be at least 15 years of age and snowmobile drivers must hold a valid driving licence. Persons under the age of 15 may ride a snowmobile as a passenger. With husky safaris driving a husky team requires a good physical condition. Participants under 15 years can travel as a passenger in the sled. There is a temperature limit of -20 C for children, who are taken by car to the locations wherever this is possible. The snowmobiles are insured, but drivers are liable for the first 500 EUR in the event of accident.
