City and Snow in Finland

Experience Finland in the winter time by combining a city break in Helsinki and a winter break at the ski centre Messilä.

Helsinki offers plenty to see and do during the winter. Visit Suomenlinna sea fortress, stroll around the city and enjoy shopping at Finnish design boutiques, try ice skating in the Railway Square or enjoy a warming cup of hot chocolate in one of many cafes around Kaivopuisto Park.

After spending some time in the city, head off for some traditional winter activities at Messilä, Southern Finland’s biggest skiing centre with 10 slopes and 70 kilometers of cross country skiing tracks. Located just an hour away from Helsinki, Messilä can be easily reached by train. The leisure centre offering numerous facilities in winter. Besides skiing and snowboarding, why not try tobogganing, horse riding, snow shoeing or ice fishing. The unique nature creates dozens of possibilities to enjoy out door activities.

Prices start from: £595 per person in a hotel room (based on availability and sharing a double room). Try the log cabin accommodation from £695 per person (based on availability and two people sharing).

Example itinerary:

DAY 1: HELSINKI
Upon arrival in Helsinki, you'll be met and transferred to your four star hotel in the city centre.

DAY 2: HELSINKI
After breakfast, start exploring the city. Visit the Senate Square, market square and Kaivopuisto park. Go ice skating or visit Helsinki design district’s small boutiques and galleries. We can also arrange guided tours in Helsinki.

DAY 3: HELSINKI - LAHTI - MESSILA
Take an early morning train from Helsinki to Lahti. Trains to Lahti depart several times per day and the journey takes approximately an hour. After arriving Lahti, take a taxi to the leisure center Messilä for two nights stay. Taxi journey is only 10 - 15 mintues. Check in to your hotel and enjoy the various winter activities Messilä has to offer.

DAY 4: MESSILA
Full day to enjoy winter in Messila! Here are some suggested activities during your stay. You can book the activities directly through your hotel:
- Skiing
- Snowboarding
- Cross country skiing
- Tobogganing
- Horse riding
- Snow Shoeing
- Ice fishing
- Snow mobile rides

DAY 5: MESSILA - LAHTI - HELSINKI
Time to say goodbye to Messilä and Ttake a taxi to Lahti railway station for your train journey back to Helsinki. Check in to a four star hotel in the city centre. Evening at leisure.

DAY 6: DEPARTURE FROM HELSINKI
Departure. You will have the morning free for shopping and final walk around the capital of Finland. Transfer to Helsinki airport for your evening flights back to London.
