Palanga for a few days, before returning to Vilnius, from where you depart back to the UK

Day 1 - Depart the UK on Air Baltic or Lithuanian Airlines (see Flight Times) and arrive in Vilnius where you will be met by your driver and taken to Hotel Artis. If you arrive in the afternoon, you will have time to get acquainted with the historic baroque Old Town.
Day 2 - Take a Vilnius sightseeing tour, which includes visits to the medieval, as well as modern sections of the city. See the grand Cathedral of Peter & Paul, the small church of St. Anna, a gem of Gothic architecture, and the University of Vilnius.
Visit Trakai – the medieval capital of Lithuania, located 18 miles west of Vilnius. In ancient times Trakai was called “Town on the Water”. The town has some nice restaurants and the castle on the lake is quite spectacular.
Day 3 - 4 - Transfer by coach or train to Klaipeda. There are about 5 or 6 departures per day from Vilnius and the trip takes about 4 hours. Arrive and check in at Europa Royale Hotel Klaipeda. Enjoy a look around the port town and harbour.
Take a 15 mintue ferry ride to the Curonian Spit and enjoy a day appreciating the nature and wildlife. Visit Nida, sample the smoked fish and walk/cycle on this narrow, 60 mile long sand dune.
Day 5 - 6 - Transfer by bus or taxi to Palanga. It takes about 30 minutes to get there. Check in to the first rate Hotel Palanga for a couple days of rest and relaxation. Palanga has a wide range of restaurants and cafes along the main road that leads to the beach. Take a leisurely walk in the well kept Palanga Botanical Gardens (more like a nice park). Visit the Amber Museum and view some of the treasures of the region.
Day 7 - Return to Vilnius by coach (trip takes about 5 hours) and overnight at the Hotel Artis.
Day 8 - Return flights to the UK.
