Northern Lights Holiday in Lofoten Islands will take you in the footsteps of Joanna Lumley who did a programm for the BBC. This winter package includes direct flights, one day onboard the Hurtigruten cruising through the most spectacular scenery of the coastal journey, accommodation, transfers, all meals, activities and guided tours. This 4 night itinerary focuses on the northern lights, culture, history and the nature of Lofoten Islands. Every evening there will be exciting northern lights activities and we will take you to the places where you have the best chance of seeing the Aurora Borealis.

THURSDAY: ARRIVAL IN EVENES
- Direct flight London Gatwick - Evenes at 10:00
- Arrival at Evenes airport at 14:15
- Accommodation at Harstad Hotel. This elegant hotel is in the town center close to the Hurtigruten Quay.
- Guided tour at the Trondenes Museum and the Adolf battery. The biggest Gun battery during the 2nd World War.
- Dinner
- Northern Lights hunt (dependant on the weather conditions)
FRIDAY: COSTAL CRUISE ONBOARD THE HURTIGRUTEN
- Departure with Hurtigruten from Harstad at 08:30 with MS Finnmarken. You will get a taste of the artic light, passing the famous Trollfjorden and the spectacular Raftsundet. Lunch on board.
- Arrival at Svolvær at 18:30
- Accommodation at Henningsvær Bryggehotell. This small and nice hotel is placed on the pier in one of Lofoten’s largest fishing villages. The hotel has had prominent guests as the President Clinton. The Hotel is well known for it’s kitchen with one of the most famous chefs in Norway, Stian Haugnes.
- Dinner at the hotel
- Visit to the Polarlightcenter in Laukvik and have a lecture about the facts of northern lights. Colorful pictures and animations. We return to the hotel at 23.00
SATURDAY: EXPLORING THE ISLANDS
- Guided tour through Lofoten where we end up at Å where Joanna Lumley first saw the northern lights. We will visit different attractions, small fishing villages and enjoy the dramatic and picturesque nature in what National Geographic refers to as among the most beautiful islands in the world
- Lunch at the fishing village
- Visit the Viking Museum Lofotr. A guided tour and The Goddess Idunn Temptation inside the Viking house
- Dinner
SUNDAY: ENJOYING THE OUTDOORS IN LOFOTEN
- Arctic beach barbeque is served outdoors at the beautiful beach at Hov
- Lofoten beach and wildlife excursion
- Dinner at Northern Lights Base Camp
- Your own photo safari or relax at the camp or join optional tours:
- Rent snow sledge, snow shoes or kick sled and have some fun in the snow on your own. Price: £15 pp.
- Horseback riding on Icelandic horses under arctic sky. Price: £75 pp, minimum 6 people. Duration: 2 hours
- Northern Lights hunting on snowshoes. Price: £75 pp, minimum 6 people. Duration: 3 hours
MONDAY: DAY FREE, EVENING DEPARTURE
- Day off or take part in one of the options below:
- Boat trip with fishing. Try to catch the famous Lofoten cod that can weigh more than 30 kilos. Price: £85 pp, minimum 10 people. Duration: 2-3 hours
- Sea kayak with guide. Price: £140 pp, minimum 5 people. Duration: 3 hours
- Easy hiking with snow shoes with guide. Price: £100 pp, minimum 5 people. Duration: 3 hours
- Lunch at hotel
- Transfer back to the airport
- Depart Evenes at 20:15
- Arrive in Gatwick at 22:45
Option for all nights: stay in the Lavvo at the Northern Lights Base Camp at Hov (Viking and Sami tent) under open arctic sky. This will increase your chance to see the northern lights. Hov is one of the best places to observe the northern lights because of its location facing the north and almost no light pollution. Each lavvo has a warm double bed, oil lamps, and fireplace and reindeer skin on the floor.
