Travel to the top of the World, Kirkenes, Norway, for an unforgettable adventure in the Arctic. This trip is packed with winter activities such as a dog sledding and snow mobile safari, ice fishing for some of the World’s largest King Crabs, admiring the Northern Lights and spending a night at the Snow Hotel. You will be accompanied by an English speaking guide, out-fitted in the appropriate Arctic gear for your activities and introduced to the unique culture of the North.

For departures on Sundays, there is a possibility of connecting through Oslo without an overnight stay.  The programme will vary slightly and allow for more time in the Arctic.

Northern Lights Norway Adventure Itinerary

DAY 1 - Arrive in Oslo.  Transfer 20 minutes by train to central Oslo.  Check in to the centrally located 4* Clarion Hotel Royal Christiania or similar.  Afternoon free to explore Oslo.

DAY 2: Early lfight from Oslo to Kirkenes.  Arrive at Kirkenes airport and transfer Rica Hotel Kirkeness by taxi  Check in and enjoy some lunch and get prepared for an Arctic evening safari. You will be transferred to Svancik from where you will travel by dog-sled with your guide in the Norwegian-Russian borderland, through the Pasvikdalen valley. If the conditions are clear, you will see the Northern Lights dance across the skies as you travel through the polar night. The trip culminates with a delicious traditional meal served in a lavvu (Sami tee-pee). Duration: 17.00 - 23.00. Accommodation at Rica Hotel Kirkenes

DAY 3: Breakfast at the hotel. Your guide will meet you at your hotel and take you to your snowmobile.  You will be provided with appropriate Arctic gear and then travel by snowmobiles across the polar landscape with your guide. An outdoor lunch and coffee break is made during the trip. The total length of the trip is approximately 50 kilometers and depends on the weather conditions. Duration: 10.00 - 16.00. After the excursion, transfer to Kirkenes Rica Hotel. Optional excursion - a guided snow shoe walk can be done on specially groomed trails near the hotel (approximately 2 hours).  Dinner at the hotel.

DAY 4: Breakfast at the hotel. You will be picked up at the hotel by your guide and driven to Jarfjord (20 min). On the King Crab Safari, you will catch some of the largest and freshest King Crabs in the World. Depending upon the ice conditions, your expedition will be by either snowmobile or boat. You will be amazed about the size of some of these monsters, which can reach 2 meters and weigh up to 15 kilos. Enjoy fresh crab for lunch in the fjordside restaurant. Duration: 10.00 - 14.00. After the fishing trip it is back to Kirkenes (ca. 20 min).

At 18.00 you check in at Kirkenes Snow Hotel, a beautiful piece of snow architecture and sculpture in the Arctic nature. The hotel has 10 suites, ice sculptures and live reindeer. The Snow Hotel is situated walking distance from Kirkenes in Gabba, a reindeer safari Park. Dinner in the evening.

DAY 5: Breakfast at the Snow Hotel and an option for a traditional sauna.  Transfer to the airport for your connecting flight through Oslo back to the UK.
