This is a once in a lifetime Arctic adventure, far removed from civilization, in Svalbard. You will see Arctic wildlife such as reindeer and Arctic fox, and if you are lucky, a glimpse of the King of the Arctic, the polar bear.
Your accommodation is situated on the outermost part of the Isfjord on the beautiful Nordenskiöld coast framed by the majestic Svalbard Mountains and overlooking the open sea. The radio station has charming and cosy rooms, a lounge with a fireplace and a unique and extremely interesting history.
Departures: Mondays and Wednesdays in July and August 2010
Price is £ 1,935 per person based on availability and 2 people sharing double or twin room. Single supplement is £ 250.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival in Longyearbyen
Arrival in Longyearbyen. Spend your first day absorbing the wonders of this remote area, take in the views and the splendour of the Arctic.

Day 02: Scenic splendour and bird viewing
09:00 Pick up outside Basecamp Spitsbergen hotel and transport to the quay and our polar circle boat. On the way, you will have time to enjoy the fantastic fjord and animal wildlife. After check in, you are served a 2-course warm lunch. Spend the afternoon in the vicinity of the bird sanctuary to have a closer look at wildlife. In the evening, enjoy a 3 course dinner at the station.

Day 03: Mountains, Glaceirs and wildlife
08:00, start your day with a good and healthy breakfast. At 10h00 board a boat for a safari to the west side of the fjord. The route will be east along the coastline before crossing Isfjorden at Kapp Starostin, you then proceed straight to the mighty Alkehornet Mountain with thousands of nesting birds. In Trygghamna Bay you may go ashore and start with an expedition. Lunch is served at the beach. After lunch, have a closer look at the area before boarding the boat to set the course to the fantastic Esmark Glacier in Ymerbukta. If you are fortunate you may have the opportunity to see whales, seals or the king of the artic, the polar bear. In the evening a 3- course dinner awaits us at the Isfjord Radio.

Day 04: Geology, Flowers, animal life & History
08:00 Breakfast is followed by a new day with many new experiences. You go for a walk along the fantastic coastline. The guide tells you stories about old hunters and their life up in the Arctic.
Learn more about the geology, flowers and animal life in the area. After a well deserved brake, return to Isfjord Radio and enjoy a 2-course warm lunch before returning to Longyearbyen by boat. Rest of the afternoon and evening at leisure Overnight at the Trappers' lodge,
Day 05: Departure Day
Breakfast at the hotel. Rest of your morning at lesiure, with departure according to your own itinerary.
