Day 1 - Depart the UK and arrive at Riga airport. A private car will drive you to your four star hotel in the city centre, where you'll have a chance to do a bit of exploring in the Old Town. Go ice skating at the outdoor rink in Dome Square (during the Christmas Market) or LIDO Recreation Centre.
Day 2 - Take the train from Riga and enjoy the snowy scenery on your trip to Cesis, a beautiful, historic town located 55 miles from Riga. Check in to the 3 star Hotel Cesis
Here are some suggested activities for your stay at Cesis. We can book most activities in advance for you, but if you want more flexibility, you can book most things directly through your hotel.
- Skiing and snowboarding at Zagarkalns. Fun for all ages. There's a snowboard park, slalom competitions and a dedicated hill for sledging. There's a day lodge where you can get pizzas and chicken and chips and cocoa and beer. Hire an instructor for £5 an hour.
- Take a sleigh ride through the nearby forests
- Take a walk in Cesis, it's a beautiful, fairy tale like town, that takes you back in time. The park around the 13th century castle is beautiful in the evening, when the castle is lit up and the snow is drifting down on to the frozen lake.
Day 6 - Enjoy half a day of skiing in Cesis and then return to Riga by train (or private car) and check in to a centrally located four star hotel.
Day 7 - Visit LIDO recreation centre - one of the biggest log buildings in Europe. It's the place where Latvian culture and old cooking traditions go hand in hand. You'll be able to enjoy traditional Latvian food and get a real taste of Latvia! There is a huge outdoor ice skating rink to stretch your legs. Private transfer to the Riga airport and depart for UK.
