The architect behind the Vigelandsparken was Gustav Vigeland. Vigeland sculpture all the sculptures by himself without assistance from other artists or from his pupils. He accepted help from talented craftsmen who got the responsibility to carve stone and cast bronze. The architectural setting of the park's layout, lawns and maple trees were also designed by Vigeland and it took several years to complete the construction of the park.
